It’s Not What You Ask but How

Have you ever asked a question and not received the response you were hoping for? If so, consider the way in which you asked the question. Did you come across intimidating? Asking a question like, “Why did that happen or why did you do that?” can eli
cit a defensive response.
Think about your demeanor before you ask your next question. Is your tone appropriate and does your body language invite people to feel comfortable in whatever response they give? Forming a question in a positive manner can result in a good response.
Prescription: Before you ask your next question, consider whether you are phrasing it positively or negatively.
