Mavis Szubelak, MA, LLP, LLPC
Mavis is a child and adolescent counselor and supervisor. She is passionate about working alongside children, teenagers and families in order to help them reach their maximum potential. She specializes in working with clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, identity issues, adjustment difficulties, trauma, perfectionism, grief and communication.
Mavis has expertise in and a deep appreciation for working with blended, foster and adoptive families. During the counseling process, she provides a safe environment for clients to discuss their hurts, frustrations and struggles, while also helping them to rely on God’s strength and comfort as they heal. Mavis formulates a unique approach that accommodates each client according to their individual needs. Mavis is also trained in brainspotting, a relatively new type of therapy designed to help people access, process and overcome trauma, including psychologically induced physical pain.
Mavis holds a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Western Michigan University and continues to receive supervision for her license from Dr. Rebecca Klott, PhD. She resides in West Michigan with her husband Pierce and their miniature dachshund, Lola.
