Sharon has the gift of encouragement and understands the importance of allowing her clients the space to be known and heard so they can discover solutions to their struggles and live out their identity as a child of God. She is passionate about encouraging her clients to grow in their relationship with God for true healing. She recognizes that God’s Word is the original Cognitive Behavioral Therapy manual and encourages clients to utilize this powerful weapon as they navigate any struggle. She helps instill hope amidst their struggles and helps them discover how to learn and grow along the way and develop deeper peace, joy, and contentment. She is equipped and experienced in dealing with older adolescents, young adults and adults who struggle with anxiety, spiritual growth, addictions, adoption related struggles, depression, and identity issues.
Sharon received her Master of Social Work degree from Michigan State University, and her bachelor’s degree from Calvin University. Prior to working at Winning At Home, she worked for decades as a crisis clinician and addiction screening specialist at Network180. She also has extensive life and professional experience working with adoptive parents and adoptees, especially related to attachment concerns.
Sharon especially loves having somewhat chaotic family dinners on Sundays with her husband and their 6 children, who all come home for the day. Three are blessed to them biologically, and three are blessed to them through adoption. She also treasures walks in nature with her dog, where God is always showing off. Sharon’s favorite book of the Bible is usually the one she is reading at the moment.
